        NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
is an organization that recognizes its members for their outstanding performance in the areas
of scholarship,  service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

        HISTORY
NJHS can trace its history and formation back to 1921, when after the establishment of the National
Honor Society, a need for a middle school organization emerged. Today, after more than 75 years,
over 6,000 NJHS and 15,000 NHS chapters are chartered. Chapters can be found all over the United
States as well as in countries overseas. Individual chapters are encouraged to exercise
initiative, resourcefulness, and ingenuity in promotion of society standards. Since its founding,
NJHS and NHS have been continue to be the leading organizations for recognizing and involving
outstanding students in secondary schools across the nation.
